This training will help you to understand what mental health is, the different kinds of mental health conditions, and how to support people to access the right professional help.

 

This 1-Day course covers the content of the Level providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help. This course also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan, and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace or community organisation.  

The course covers: 

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • First Aid for Mental Health action plan
  • First Aid for Mental Health in the Workplace

You can sign up for the First Aid for Mental Health (level 2) as long as you have completed our Trauma Awareness Level 1 course, which is an introduction to our learning community. A certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.  A range of methods are used, as part of the assessment including practical assessment and questioning (open and multiple-choice). The course is certified by Nuco Training and is regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation Awarding Body. 

Trauma Awareness Places and Spaces has been developed by Greater Manchester Together and will be delivered by Rach Horne Mental Health Development Coordinator and trainee Art Psychotherapist.

Tea and coffee is provided, please bring your own lunch.
